Obscure bands you either loved or hated

I was going thru my cd collection making a list and came upon some bands that were very obscure...some people hated them some people loved them. What's your verdict?

The Beautiful
Moonwater
Lions & Ghost
Cliffs Of Doneen
The Front...which then became Bakers Pink
Burning Tree
Under Neath What

Were Skin/Jagged Edge really that obscure? They
were (both) quite big at one point, in the UK at least.
We (Ratpack) gigged with Skin in Nottingham once,
in a charity bash (Dumblaine disaster, I think it was).
Them, Lee Ratbags' band (apparently), The Vamps
and a bunch of others. Great gig. We came on
around 3PM-ish, caked in make-up and pissed to the
eyeballs. (Every song was punked up.) Skin were
cool guys, but afterwards, downstairs in that pub
with the big plane hanging off the ceiling (The Rig?),
(the ego which is) Grey wouldn't talk to us because
he hated our singer, because our singer - Steevi
Jaimz-ishly - spat beer over our lethargic audience
during our set. I liked Skin. I liked their singer's
pre-Skin band too, Kooga. Kooga were funny: they
were a five piece all-male (AOR) band, but had to
split up after their bass player - a mustachioed
Bobby Ball lookalike - ran away with the keyboard
player. Priceless.

Nice call Daz. Kooga's lp was called Across the Water. Welsh band if I remember rightly

Yeh, Welsh as fuck. As Valleys (innit) as you can
get. I only ever saw Kooga once - in the dubious
working class environs (c.f. Tonypandy Naval Club:
bingo and cabaret most nights; cheap beer; rows
and rows of tables; the infrequent rock gig) of
Abercynon Social Club. Great gig, but woshisface,
singer, wasn't impressed when I mentioned it to
him during the Nottingham gig. I think he might
have still been smarting over the Bobby Ball fiasco.
LOL!

BTW, I'd love some mp3s of 'Across The Water.'

I think the Skin bloke's name was Neville McDonald, if I remember rightly. As you say, Skin weren't obscure in the UK, seeing as they got on the Donington bill one year (93?).

I think Jagged Edge deserved more though, even if the title track to the Trouble EP is a blatant rip-off of Mr Big's Addicted To That Rush. I think Fabio Del Rio went on to drum for someone else, but I don't know what happened to Matti Alfonzetti.
